Ohio organizers utilize ‘brat,’ other memes to reach Gen Z voters

Politics are having a musical moment on social media this fall, inspired by one of the summer hit’s albums — “brat” by Charli XCX — which became a meme utilized by the Harris-Walz presidential campaign.

Clara Conover, digital organizer for the nonprofit Ohio Student Association, says “brat” and other memes have helped OSA reach a younger audience.

“It’s kind of a sign that the tides are changing around who is really getting to hold space in politics so like towards young people,” Conover said.
